Membership

Membership in a local church is vital to the spiritual health of each believer. The local church provides a place for corporate worship, fellowship, accountability, and opportunities to serve alongside fellow Christians. Below is some information on biblical membership and how to complete the membership process here at Palmyra.

1. Membership Class

All prospective members must attend our membership class. We require this class because we want to make sure that people know exactly what it means to join a church and what will be required of them should they decide to join Palmyra.

In this class we talk about why it is important to join a church, what it means to be a member, our history, our statement of faith and church covenant, and ways to connect with Palmyra.

The membership class is typically offered twice a year. The class usually meets on a Friday evening. Dinner and childcare are provided. Check the calendar or contact a member of the staff to find out when the next class is scheduled.

2. Membership Interview

Upon completing the class, the prospective member sits down with at least one pastor/elder, provides basic biographical information, shares his or her story of conversion and baptism, as well as his or her understanding of the gospel. This also provides the prospective member another opportunity to ask any remaining questions they have about the church.

3. Membership Affirmation

During a member meeting the pastors/elders introduce the prospective member and give a brief description of his or her story. Finally, a vote is taken, and with a majority secured, the candidate officially becomes a member of Palmyra.

Believer's Baptism

Baptism by immersion is a critical step of obedience to our Lord Jesus. If you are a believer and have not yet been baptized, we urge you to pursue Christian baptism. Palmyra approves membership only for those who have been baptized since their conversion.
